I’m now back in Wales after a fun and busy few days with the team in York, before the lead up to the weekends race, the Tour de Yorkshire. And as expected Yorkshire did not disappoint when it came to supporting a bike race! After racing last years edition of the race, it was great to see the race step up a level this year and be another success. This race has definitely set a bench mark in women’s cycling, with the TV coverage (although it was a shame it had technical issues on the day) and the huge prize money fund. With the media coverage and interest the race received, it definitely shows that women’s cycling is headed in the right direction, and its great to see Britain leading the way. As a team the race for us went really well, and we we’re all so happy to see Lucy step up on the podium, after she once again smashed it in the sprint!
With not much time to even unpack my suitcase, I’m now off to China for the next round of the Women’s WorldTour for the three-day stage race, the Tour of Chongming Island. It’s a new experience for me having never raced or traveled to this part of the world before, so I’m really looking forward to it. But for now it’s a long travel day and some jet lag to get over hopefully in time for race day!
