Johansson who recently announced that 2016 will be her last full season as an active professional cyclist started her pro career in 2006 with the Spanish Bizkaia-Durango team. Living in Zingem (Belgium) or Vestskogen, Norway together with husband former pro Martin Vestby Johansson rode for a number of teams over the years including Vlaanderen-Caprisonne (2007), AA Drink (2008), Red Sun (2009, 2010), Hitec Products (2011, 2012) and the past three years with the Australian Orica-AIS team.
Johansson started out as a talented cross-country skier but at the age of thirteen she discovered the thrills of mountainbiking. She immediately realised that it was the perfect sport for her and she attended the Cycling school of Skara for 4 years. Because most of the training was on the road, road racing soon became her main sport. After she graduated from cycling school she decided to become a professional cyclist. She moved to Spain for 4 months. Initally things did not turn out the way she wanted too but in the end it led to her first pro contract with the Bizkaia-Durango team.
