Amy Roberts Blog: Back to the Races!

So after a long time out of racing due to illness it was time to get back to it. With my first race being Bene ladies tour, pretty much right on the boarder of Holland and Belgium. It started off with a very early morning and a taxi ride to Bristol to catch our 7am flight to Amsterdam. It was nice to have Anna travelling with me too. We got to Amsterdam where Lucy and Lars were waiting to take us home. Again I was lucky enough to be having them as hosts for the next week. Once we arrived we did a nice spin to get the travel out the legs...

Amy Roberts Blog: Coping with a midseason virus

It’s been a tough last few weeks for me and things haven’t really gone how I hoped. With a very busy start to the season having lots of racing it eventually took its toll on my body and I have ended up picking up a virus. Leaving me with having time off my bike and not being able to train. This has been difficult and its taking a lot longer than I had hoped to get over it. The national champs, esp the time trial, were going to be a big goal for me but with them fast approaching at the end of this month, its looking like I’m not...

Amy Roberts Blog “Tour de Yorkshire and China”

Next up was the Asda Tour de Yorkshire Women’s Race this year! For me the race starts a few days before. I travelled to York on Wednesday and picked up my team mates Anna Christian and Lucy Garner on the way. This is a time where having our Honda cars come in very handy!! Thursday was a busy day! I caught up with my teammates, and we set off to do a recce of the course. It wasn’t a normal recce, as we had BBC Breakfast join us for most of the day! We did the first 75km of the route in the car and stopped at a local school to meet the...

Amy Roberts Blog: Getting a feel for the lifestyle in Holland and Belgium!

As I’m coming to the end of nearly a month of being away racing and training in Holland and Belgium I thought it would be a good time to update you all on how it’s going….. So far this year I’ve been lucky enough to get lots of racing in the legs and get into my first full road season without having a winter on the track.  This block has consisted of quite a few races starting off with Dwars door Vlaanderen – a small Flanders type race with some of the cobbled climbs and sections, so a tough one. For me it went pretty well,...

Amy Roberts: “A lot more opportunities”

Welsh cyclist Amy Roberts has recently prolonged her contract with the Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling Team for another year. The 20 year old is the second youngest athlete on the British registered UCI team and one of the four British riders on the team with Dani King, Anna Christian and new signing Lucy Garner. Roberts has been part of Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling since its inception in 2013. Her 2015 season suffered a setback as she fractured her collarbone in Dwars door de Westhoek late April, but the Welsh talent returned at the Great Britain...
