Jolien D’hoore: “I want to pay tribute to what happened in Brussels”

Wiggle High5 Pro Cycling’s Jolien D’hoore will be wearing her Belgian Champion’s jersey with pride in Sunday’s Gent-Wevelgem – In Flanders Fields, which will be the next round of the Women’s WorldTour. The event is one of the big events of the Spring Classics season, and has been named in tribute to those that fell in the region in the First World War; D’hoore will be also racing in tribute to others this weekend, however, after the horrific events in the Belgian capital on Tuesday. “I want to pay tribute to what happened in Brussels,”...

I think we did a good job as a team,” Pieters explained. “We all rode well as a team. After the...

Wiggle High5 Pro Cycling’s Emma Johansson came within just a few inches of the podium of the Trofeo Alfredo Binda – Comune di Cittiglio this afternoon, as came down to a fight between just eight riders. The race, run just to the north of the city of Varese, was the third in the 2016 Women’s World Tour, and was won by World Champion Lizzie Armitstead (Boels-Dolmans) as she chased across to lone attacker Jolanda Neff (Servetto-Footon) in the closing kilometres. Emma Johansson: “Binda is always a nice race because it has a bit of everything”

Wiggle High5 Pro Cycling will be led by former winner Emma Johansson in Sunday’s Trofeo Alfredo Binda-Comune di Cittiglio, which will be race three in the new Women’s World Tour. Johansson won the 2014 edition of the race, which was then a World Cup, as she outsprinted a group of eight riders on the uphill finishing straight. Unfortunately, Elisa Longo Borghini, who won what was an epic 2013 edition through some of the worst weather seen by the professional peloton in many years, has been forced to sit the race out through illness. “Binda is...

Wiggle High5 Pro Cycling’s Emma Johansson and Amy Pieters finished second and third respectively in Le Samyn, in Dour, in the French-speaking Walloon region of Belgium. Swedish Champion Johansson was just unable to overcome 2015 winner Chantal Blaak (Boels-Dolmans) in a two-up sprint for the line, while Pieters was able to take the sprint for third place at the head of a group, 14 seconds later. “It was pretty good,” Johansson said. “We were all there in the front in the crosswind, with the whole team, but then it went into a tail-cross, and...
