Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling Riders London Bound For A Good Cause

Rowsell and Gilmore join cycling’s biggest names to raise money for charity

Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling’s Olympic Champion Joanna Rowsell and Commonwealth Games Gold medalist Rochelle Gilmore will join a star-studded line up to raise money for the children’s charity Action Medical Research at its third annual Champions of CycleSport dinner in London on Thursday 22nd November.

Rowsell and Gilmore will be joined by some of cycling’s biggest champions in Chris Boardman MBE, Dave Brailsford CBE, Jonathan Tiernan-Locke and Jody Cundy at an event which last year raised £100,000 to help sick babies, children with disabilities and those suffering from a rare disease.

Action Medical Research has a strong passion for cycling and has developed a reputation for its programme of challenge cycling events boasting a portfolio of over 25 rides, including three exclusively for women.

Rowsell is a current Cycling Ambassador for the charity’s programme of cycling events. Her partnership has seen her actively support the charity in the longer-distance challenges including the UK End2End, taking on the iconic Land’s End to John O’Groats route over nine days. Rowsell said:

“There’s a huge choice of things for cyclists to get involved in, from one-day rides to longer challenges like the UK End2End – I’ve ridden the Land’s End to John O’Groats route myself so know first-hand what an amazing ride that is.”

Flying in from Australia exclusively for the event, Gilmore will be attending on behalf of Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling and supporting Rowsell in celebrating the sport and showing her support for such a worthy charity.

“I am delighted to be attending the event in support of Joanna and to assist in raising money for such a wonderful cause,” Gilmore said.

Gilmore will be in London for 24 hours before returning to Australia to continue her advocacy for women’s cycling by racing the NSW International Grand Prix.

Hosted by Sky News’s Dermot Murnaghan and sponsored by UK’s No.1 online cycle and triathlon sport retailer, Wiggle, guests will enjoy the opportunity to mix with some of cycling’s greatest riders as well as bid for some one-of-a-kind cycling memorabilia and desirable items in live and silent auctions.

This year Action Medical Research celebrates 60 years of vital medical research. Proceeds from this year’s event will go towards research around Down syndrome, meningitis, epilepsy, cerebral palsy and premature birth.
