Get to know: Annette Edmondson

Australia’s Annette “Nettie” Edmondson (Orica-AIS) is one of the eight new signings for Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling for the 2015 season. The 22 year old is a part of the new generation of Australian athletes who are rising to the top of women’s cycling, together with the likes of Tiffany Cromwell, Chloe Hosking, Melissa Hoskins and Gracie Elvin. This year Nettie had a stellar track season with two Commonwealth Games gold medals (Scratch, Ind. Pursuit), two gold medals at the Oceania Championships (Ind. Pursuit, Omnium) and four gold medals at the National Championships (Scratch, Points, Omnium, Madison). At the Track World Championships in Colombia, Nettie also took two Bronze medals. (Team Pursuit, Omnium). Nettie’s first year as a professional road cyclist with Orica AIS in 2013 saw her win a stage and the overall classification at the Tour of Chongming Island, as well as a stage in the Lotto Belisol Belgium Tour. This year she won a silver medal in the Team Time Trial at the World Championships in Ponferrada, Spain. Nettie’s all-round talent on different type of terrains coupled with her selfless devotion to her teammates will make her an indispensable member of Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling in 2015.

Biggest Cycling Result: Olympic Bronze London 2012 in the omnium.

Happiest Cycling Memory: Riding down to the beach as a junior with friends, hiding our bikes in the bushes and going swimming, then riding off with ice creams in our hands!

Favourite Race: Handicaps at Carnivals (track cycling event).

Hates: Mosquitos, Empty fridges, Cold velodromes, Double punctures, Brothers wearing my cycling kit.

Favourite Pre-race meal: Porridge

Favourite Post race meal: Chocolate milk
