Gilmore promotes awareness at AGF Share the Road Tour

Rochelle Gilmore to ride from Adelaide to Melbourne in support of the Amy Gillett Foundation

On Monday the 3rd of December, Rochelle Gilmore will start the 1043km journey from Adelaide to Melbourne in support of the Amy Gillett Foundation’s Share the Road Tour.

Since its first edition in 2009, the Share the Road tour has raised over $700,000 to assist the Amy Gillett Foundation work towards its mission of safe cycling in Australia and vision for zero bike-related fatalities.

This year’s addition aims to promote a shared respect between motorists and cyclists and to raise sufficient funds to be able to directly deliver safety programs and campaigns in to the community.

Gilmore will be joined by world class cyclists Phil Anderson and Bradley McGee, as well as 32 other cycling enthusiasts as she pedals up to 193km a day over 7 days. The route commences in Amy Gillett’s home town of Adelaide before making its way through Meningie, Robe, Mt Gambier, Port Fairy, Port Campbell, Lorne and finishing in Melbourne.

The Amy Gillett Foundation’s Share the Road Tour holds a special place in Gilmore’s heart as it also serves as a celebration of Amy Gillett’s life, a good friend of Gilmore’s who was tragically killed by an out of control motorist whilst cycling with her Australian National team mates in Germany.

“Since its inception in 2009, I have always made it my priority to come and support the Share the Road Tour to help raise awareness of cyclists on our roads and to prevent an event as tragic as Amy’s death happening again in the future,” Gilmore said.

Gilmore has currently raised $4195 for this year’s edition of the Tour. If you would like to show your support for Gilmore and contribute to the fantastic work done by the Amy Gillett Foundation you can do so by following the link below:
