At the start of the year, Honda Motor Europe became our co-naming rights partner and the Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling team was born.
This was an exciting moment for everyone in the team, partnering with one of the World’s leading automotive brands, with a passion for racing on two wheels and four. Honda has a car to suit every lifestyle and we use our Honda vehicles for both team and personal use.
The Accord Tourer is used as our Race team car. The spacious wagon has loads of space for our race wheels, coolers and toolboxes while still leaving plenty of room for our support crew to ride in comfort. The Accord Tourer is a real workhorse, carrying our spare bikes during the races and is the ideal vehicle for the team as it can handle the rough terrain with ease while keeping all on board comfy and safe.
My personal car is a Honda CR-V, which suits my lifestyle. Its versatility is what I love most about it. It can carry my luggage with ease and the boot is big enough for 2 bikes and a set of wheels without having to lay the back seats down, meaning I can take my friends with me and still have room for my dog. My CR-V Luxury is packed with features but what I like most are the very comfortable and supportive heated seats; that stop me getting back ache while traveling between races.
I also can’t do without the in-built sat nav. It’s an essential tool for me not only to navigate around home, but also when I travel across Europe. With the audio and phone controls conveniently located on the steering wheel, I can enjoy my music in between talking to my coach hands free, on the way to the races.
As a professional cyclist, I spend a lot of time on the road and the quality and durability of my Honda CR-V gives me total peace of mind. The CR-V’s aerodynamic design means I spend more time on the road and less time at fuel stations; it has great fuel economy thanks to the Econ feature that means the car modifies its system to deliver excellent fuel economy and a really low CO2. When asked what I like most about my CR-V, I say “its reliability, versatility, quality, style and its low emissions, which is very important to me”.
