Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling makes World debut

Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling is looking forward to showcasing their new outfit when they line up for the first time in 2013 at the Mitchelton Bay Cycling Classic in Geelong, Australia.

The team is hoping to follow Gilmore’s previous success at the ‘world’s fastest criterium series’ where she has won 6 stages, and taken out the overall classification on three occasions.

Bringing an international flair to the women’s peloton, the Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling team will consist of Commonwealth Games Champion Rochelle Gilmore, former Australian Criterium Champion Lauren Kitchen, New Zealander Emily Collins and Germany’s Anna-Bianca Schnitzmeier.
‘It’s fantastic that two of Wiggle Honda’s international riders are making the trip Down Under in order to compete against Australia’s best early season in preparation for the Tour of Qatar. Their participation will definitely strengthen the field and our attempt to win a stage,’ team Owner and Manager Rochelle Gilmore said.

Rounding out the team as a guest rider will be young South Australian Jessica Mundy, who was crowned U19 Oceania Road Champion in 2011 and represented Australia at the 2012 Junior World Championships. Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling is pleased to be able to provide an opportunity to up and coming talent like Mundy, who are looking to experience racing at its highest level.

Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling is also pleased to be able to support an event which is playing its part to boost cycling gender equality stakes; announcing last week that equal prize money will be on offer for both the elite men and women.

‘There are great things happening for women’s cycling at the moment. John Trevorrow (Race Organiser) has just taken a big step in bridging the gap between the equality of men and women’s cycling by equalling the prize money for men and women at his event,’ Gilmore said.

The riders will welcome the New Year with the notorious leg-busting hotdog circuit on the Eastern beaches of Geelong before heading to the hillier circuit out at Portarlington. The series concludes on the 3rd of January with the always popular stage in Williamstown.

The team will be featured on their new custom Colnago C59 frames equipped with Campagnolo components, Continental tyres, Deda handlebars, Fizik saddles, Tacx cages and Look pedals, wearing Lazer helmets, dhb clothing by Wiggle and DeFeet socks.
