Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling’s London 2012 Olympians Laura Trott, Joanna Rowsell and Dani King have been recognised in the New Year Honours list.
Trott, Rowsell and King have been given honours by the Queen for their services for cycling, after the teammates became Olympic Champions in London.
Double Olympic Champion Trott has been awarded an OBE for her victories in the Omnium and as a member of the victorious team pursuit team.
Rowsell and King have both been awarded an MBE after they won gold in the team pursuit along with Trott at the Olympic velodrome, setting a world record.
“I feel so honoured to be receiving an MBE. It is an amazing way to finish an incredible year. Huge congratulations to everyone else also receiving an honour,” said Rowsell.
“It’s absolutely incredible. I wasn’t expecting it at all but it has topped off what has been the most amazing year.
“It is not just mine, this is also for the huge amount of people who have helped and supported me to get me to where I am today,” added teammate King.
The honours cap off what has been a remarkable year for the riders as they finish preparations ahead of their World Title defence at the World Track Cycling Championships in February in Minsk, Belarus.
