Rider Bio:
Audrey Cordon-Ragot was born on the 22 September, 1989 in La Ferriere, Bretagne. Cordon-Ragot started cycling at a young age as both her dad and uncle were very good cyclists. At school Audrey combined cycling with other sports like rugby, cross country, volley-ball and ping-pong. In the beginning Cordon-Ragot combined cycling with a study to become a real-estate agent. After having graduated she worked in a real-estate agency for three years. She really enjoyed the job but it became to difficult to keep combining it with cycling. So she changed her plans, graduated to be a sports teacher and she combines the two together ever since.
The 25-year-old is part of the new generation of French riders that is rising to the top of women’s cycling. Audrey turned pro in 2008 with Vienne Futuroscope and raced for them for six years before switching to Hitec Products in 2014. Over the years Cordon-Ragot competed for the National team at World Championships and the 2012 London Olympics.
Cordon-Ragot had some stellar road seasons the past two years with victories in the GP Plumelec (2014), stage wins in the Tour de Bretagne and Route de France (2014), the GP Cholet (2015) and her most beautiful win to date the gold medal at the National Time Trial Championship (2015) after becoming three times second in the years before. Next to that she was second overall in the Tour de Bretagne (2014), third in the Omloop van het Hageland (2014) and played a crucial role in the 2014 World Championship victory of compatriot Pauline Ferrand-Prevot in Ponferrada, Spain.
Despite a horror crash in the Giro Rosa in which she broke her collarbone Cordon-Ragot ended the 2015 on a positive note being in contention for a medal at the World Championships in Richmond until the final kilometres.
It is this kind of selfless devotion to her teammates that makes Audrey an indispensable member of the team.
